Adding a Pool Water Auto Filler

Gut für mich, the main reason I wanted to install a pool water autofiller was to prevent my pool pump from dying.

Another problem we had was with the hose. Sometimes the pool people wouldn’t put it back where it belonged.
Often times the hose would be within mowing distance, meaning the landscapers could accidentally run over the hose with the mower.
We heard stories where that happened to others and the outside faucet got ripped out of the wall when the mower snagged the hose – YIKES!

You’ll want to pick a place that is not too conspicuous or unsightly.

For each turn your piping will make you’ll need a 90 degree coupler and a straight coupler where you’ll be connecting two lengths of PVC together.

The Timer And Splitter

We were still going to need to use a hose on that faucet from time to time so we connected a hose splitter to it.
One side of the splitter is connected to the pool filler and the other side to the hose.
Aktualisieren: We Changed The Water Timer
We recently changed the water timer to one that can be controlled either locally or remotely. It’s the Orbit 24516 B-hyve XD.
It was easy to replace, just unscrewing the old manual timer and screwing in the new one.
There’s an app you can install on your phone to control it and we use Home Assistant for home automation in our vacation rentals and it has a hook into B-hyve, so it can also be controlled using Home Assistant.
I use Home Assistant to check how much rain has fallen in the last week and if no rain has fallen, turn on the timer for an hour.
